Victim of a helicopter accident and then a second fall on the way to a transplant, a heart valiantly withstood the pitfalls and was finally able to be transplanted as planned in a California hospital. The accident took place this Friday, in eastern Los Angeles (United States).
Images of the crash show the helicopter carrying the heart lying on its side after failing to land on the roof of Keck Hospital, for reasons as yet undetermined. Arrived quickly on the spot, the emergency services recovered the organ to give it to a hospital employee who came to the roof.

The heart falls from the hands of a caregiver
But the caregiver then tripped on a metal plate on the way back, falling to the ground and letting his precious package escape. The heart ended up arriving safe and sound to the operating room. He was expected to be transplanted there. The operation was finally carried out successfully less than two hours after the accident.
