The suspect of a triple shooting that killed eight Tuesday in Asian massage parlors in the Atlanta area said Wednesday that his attacks were not “racist”, said Wednesday the police.
Robert Aaron Long, 21, “claims to have acted without a racist motive,” said a local police official in a press conference on Wednesday, adding that the young man had “recognized his responsibility” for the shootings which killed six women of Asian origin and two other persons.
Robert Long also indicated to the police that he could suffer from a “sexual addiction”. “He implied that he had problems, potential sex addiction, and may have frequented several of these places in the past,” said local authorities. This triple shooting took place against a backdrop of growing concerns among the American population of Asian origin, which denounces an increase in racist attacks against them.
