Discussions will play overtime. The president of the European Commission and the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave themselves Wednesday until Sunday to arrive at a “firm decision on the future of the discussions” post-Brexit, indicated Ursula von der Leyen in the evening.
We had a lively & interesting discussion on the state of play on outstanding issues.
We understand each other’s positions. They remain far apart.
The teams should immediately reconvene to try to resolve these issues. We will come to a decision by the end of the weekend. pic.twitter.com/jG0Mfg35YX

According to her, the discussions were “interesting and lively” but London and the EU remain on “very distant” positions.
