DolarToday Venezuela: How much is the dollar trading at? Today, Friday, February 18, 2022

The price of the dollar in Venezuela according to DolarToday operated this Friday in the midst of a request from twenty economists to Nicolás Maduro to publish the national budget.

The dollar stood at 4.59 digital bolivars today in the informal market in Venezuela, according to data from the portal Dollar today.

Some twenty Venezuelan economists asked the government of President Nicolás Maduro this Thursday to publish the national budget, as well as the economic and social statistics prepared by the different state entities.

Since 2016, the Executive Branch has not published the respective budget laws, clearly contravening the provisions of articles 313 and 314 of the Constitution. (…) In this way, without publication in the Official Gazette (official document where laws and mandates are published), there is no valid budget law”, the economists said in a joint statement.

For this reason, they maintained that “the officials in charge of the public administration, presumably, have been involved in acts that are contrary to the law.”

The group denounced that the fiscal figures stopped being published in 2009, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the first quarter of 2019, as well as those of the Balance of Payments and poverty data.

This situation constitutes a flagrant violation of the right of Venezuelans to be informed, while at the same time reducing transparency in public management and damaging the credibility of the entities in charge of producing these statistics.”, they stated.

The 2022 Budget Law, approved by the National Assembly (AN, Parliament) on December 14 of that year, has not yet been published in the Official Gazette, they recalled.
