Gas stations cannot sell alcohol during the lockdown that began on Friday. The measure is included in the decree which sets the conditions, explains BFMTV.

The text does allow “retail trade in fuel and fuel” and the opening of “shops associated with these businesses”. However, “the sale of food to take away, excluding alcoholic products” is authorized for these stores.

A decrease in turnover

This ban must have been difficult to pass to professionals in the sector. “These alcohol sales can represent up to 30 to 40% of the turnover of certain stations,” explains to the news channel Francis Pousse, president of fuel distributors within the CNPA (National Council of Professionals of Automobile). It is all the more scandalous that nothing prevents large retailers from selling this type of product during confinement. “

According to him, this measure will penalize even more the service stations which, during the first confinement, had already experienced a drop in attendance. The sale of fuel had thus fallen sharply.
