“Non-essential” businesses cannot sell outdoors

They were getting around the restrictions. The prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes calls them to order. For the past few days, several town halls in the department, including those of Cannes, Antibes and even Menton, have authorized “non-essential” businesses located in their territory to offer their services and goods directly on the public highway, in front of their window. An operation which must immediately cease, decide the services of the State this Friday, according to an observation transmitted to 20 Minutes.

“These provisions are not provided for by the decree […] prescribing the measures necessary to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic in the context of the state of health emergency. Mayors were asked to put an end to such practices, ”notes the prefect.

Since Saturday, the Alpes-Maritimes department has been subject to new confinement, in particular forcing certain businesses deemed “non-essential” by the government to remain closed to slow the progression of the new coronavirus.
