Canvassing does not pay, on the contrary, according to a survey

Neither the framework measures, nor the restrictions, nor the bans enacted year after year by the State seem to be succeeding in tempering the practices of cold calling. And if it is true that many scammers are added to the canvassers in good standing, only poisoning the daily lives of users a little more, the real signs would perhaps be well advised to opt for another strategy.

This is what emerges from a recent survey of 900 people by Happydemics, a company specializing in brand awareness.

daily harassment

Some 87% of participants had been the subject of telephone canvassing during the 30 days preceding this opinion survey. Worse, 38% received more than 10 calls over this period, while 59% were canvassed more than five times. Training organizations and their unscrupulous subcontractors unsurprisingly appear to be the first to practice this daily harassment, since 53% of respondents received requests relating to their personal training account (CPF). Remember also that you have to be extremely careful in this area, since the sector is the subject of many scams.

Then come the calls concerning an energy contract, works and renovation (knowing that canvassing is prohibited by law in the energy renovation sector), telephone packages and those dedicated to the Internet.

A very bad image for few results

Far from being effective, the technique would have a negative impact, since 2 out of 3 people say they do not pick up when an unknown number is displayed. In question, 63% equate this type of call with canvassing, against 42% who immediately think of a scam. As for those who answered the calls, they were hardly convinced by these unknown companies in 51% of the cases, and granted no confidence to their interlocutor (81%).

Similarly, when the company is known, these calls tarnish its image for 59% of respondents. Moreover, only 7% of respondents say they have accepted a subsequent appointment after canvassing, against 4% who have subscribed to an offer. Conversely, 86% of French people want to block these calls or have already tried to do so, in particular by registering on Bloctel’s anti-soliciting list which is, alas, not very dissuasive (64% of subscribers have received more than 5 calls).
