Two months after France, the country introduces a fuel discount

For two months, it’s been a bit upside down in Alsace and Moselle. The French are no longer going to fill up with fuel across the Rhine and it is the Germans who are making the reverse journey! The reason ? The discount of 15 to 18 cents launched by the Castex government since April 1.

But this phenomenon, typical of border regions, could end from June 1. Day of the launch of many discounts decided by the federal power, two months after France. This Wednesday, when the stations open, an aid of 14 cents on diesel and 30 cents on super will be deducted.

“This will make it possible to bring the price of a liter back under two euros”, we explain at the European Consumer Center, near Strasbourg. In concrete terms, diesel will go from around 2.07 to 1.93 euros. Either always more expensive than in France. As for unleaded 95-E10, it can be found at 1.95 against 2.15 euros in recent days. “It will therefore hardly be worth it to cross the Rhine”, we note to the same organization, regretting that “the oil companies have increased their prices by 6 to 8 centimes per liter for three, four days. »

A single ticket to take the train

So, what can you do to limit your travel costs? Maybe take the train. From this Wednesday also, a single ticket at 9 euros will be on sale on the Deutsche Bahn website. For the Germans but also the French. It will allow unlimited travel for one month on the entire regional train network as well as on all public transport networks in all cities of the country.

“Germany had made no gesture for consumers since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Everything starts on June 1 and will be spread over the summer, ”we summarize at the European Consumer Center.
