Reduced gas station discounts: how much will fuel cost from this Wednesday?

This change could have a direct impact on users’ wallets. This Tuesday evening, at midnight, there is a reduction in the discount on fuel introduced by the state from September 1.

Initially 30 cents per litre, from Wednesday morning to 10 cents until the end of December. According to the government’s original schedule, this rebate was supposed to end in full on November 1st, but it has been somewhat extended, albeit reduced.

In addition, the 20 cent discount applied by TotalEnergies will increase to 10 cents on the same day. Thus, at the group’s service stations, motorists will pay an additional 30 cents per liter of fuel from Wednesday morning.

Targeted assistance since January

When the systematic discount at gas stations ends on January 1, the state plans to distribute more targeted assistance to those who “can’t make ends meet,” according to Gabriel Attal.

Many service stations were taken by storm before the announced reduction of these discounts. In 17 departments, more than 40% of gas stations had neither petrol nor diesel, according to data released Monday evening, with strong regional differences.

Most of the departments in the Paris region reported deficiencies: Seine-Saint-Denis (49.5% of stations affected), Val-d’Oise (46%), Yvelines (45%) or even Paris (43.6%). And in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, 58% of Puy-de-Dôme stations lacked at least one type of fuel, and in Rhone, 46%, where the Feysin refinery (TotalEnergies), the last on strike, suspended traffic on 8 November. .
