Alliance that works. U.S. car rental company Hertz will provide 25,000 electric vehicles to Uber drivers in Europe by 2025, the two companies said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

According to Hertz, 50,000 Uber drivers in North America have already rented a Tesla through an earlier partnership announced in October 2021.

Tesla and polar stars

The first cars will be available for rent in London from January. The initiative should then expand to Paris, Amsterdam and other major European cities.

Models from Tesla and Polestar, a subsidiary of the Swedish manufacturer Volvo and the Chinese group Geely, will make up this fleet offered by Hertz.

Uber’s goal is to only offer electric vehicles in Europe and North America by 2030.

For its part, the landlord, which aims to have a one-quarter EV fleet by the end of 2024, signed deals in recent months to buy 100,000 vehicles from Tesla and 65,000 more from Polestar.
