Decathlon, BlaBlaCar, Carrefour… which employers are considered the most committed to CSR?

As reported by Les Echos Start this Friday, January 27, French companies Decathlon, BlaBlaCar and Carrefour are the most committed to CSR according to bac+5. The rest of the podium is 100% French with big names like EDF. , SNCF, Airbus, Doctolib. For this study, Universum surveyed 1,229 students and young graduates at the bachelor’s level + 5 between September and October 2022.

These results are part of the second edition of the CSR Index, which was voted on by 60 companies from the CAC 40, CAC ESG, and companies already identified by the CSR criterion in the firm’s previous surveys.

The top 15 employers are considered the most dedicated

Decathlon considered the most dedicated employer. Already, the favorite company of the French (according to the IFOP 2022 study) is the one that candidates consider the most committed to CSR in this survey. Deserved award for 3 stated goals: “Development of people”, “Conservation of nature”, “Creation of sustainable value”.

Blablacar takes 2nd place. In the logic of his activities, the leading French specialist in car sharing emphasizes his contribution to the preservation of the environment, especially in relation to deforestation.

Social obligations are more important than environmental protection for students

Among the CSR criteria, social obligations are a priority for candidates. Also, it is these criteria that are primarily interested in when looking for a new employer. When applying to an employer, young graduates are primarily concerned about the social obligations of companies (57%), which are far ahead of economic (39%) and environmental (38%). Thus, candidates’ priorities focus primarily on elements related to favorable working conditions and equality: good health at workI’equal pay, respect people, equal opportunity and supporting youth employment.

Distrust of greenwashing

Young people are suspicious of communicative effects such as green advertising, and they are right: only 38% of candidates give credit to companies in terms of CSR. However, candidates have more and more confidence in the CSR activities carried out by these employers: 38% of candidates believe that companies that report their CSR activities are truly committed; 10 points improvement over 2021. Companies are increasingly controlled by NGOs and the media, what do they talk about and know they can no longer hide?

Are values more important than compensation? 27% of job seekers say they will never work for a company that doesn’t align with their values 59% would ignore it in favor of an interesting mission or reward, and 14% do not take CSR into account at a professional level.

Thus, if CSR is not an absolute priority for most young job seekers, then it is a topic that is gaining more and more space.
