How much is the burger menu? McDonald’s, Burger King, Five Guys… We tested four fast food restaurants.

From €9.70 pre-Covid, the average ticket purchase at a fast food restaurant has risen to €11.50 per person in 2022, according to firm CHD Expert. “Consumers eat more because we make them want with attractive menus and numerous extras, such as desserts offered at the end of the order,” analyzes Bernard Boutboul from consulting firm Gira.

As a consequence of the “premiumization” of brands moving upstream with more thoughtful offerings (gourmet sandwiches, cafeterias, etc.), fast food has “become less economical than other areas such as bakeries,” continues Nicolas Duci from CHD Expert.

From €8.45… to €16

How much is the burger menu? At McDonald’s on Place de Clichy (18th century), the choice is wide: from the classic Big Mac (€9.10) to Signature Beef BBQ 2 meat (€15.30). For Best Of 280, medium fries and 40 cl of water, count 10.10 euros. Dessert not included.

At Burger King, on Boulevard Montparnasse (14th), the assortment is also huge: from Veggie Whopper (5.80 euros) to Master Bacon Grill (12.20 euros). For Double Whopper, medium fries and 50 cl San Pellegrino (€10.10), plus Chedder lover, medium fries and 33 cl Vittel (€9.95), the bill for two is €20.05. There are no candies either.

Five Guys at North Station (Xe) has no menu in keeping with Barack Obama’s favorite fast food policy. Sandwiches with your choice of ingredients are sold by the piece… from €8.75 for a small cheeseburger to €11.75 for “two meats”. To which you need to add french fries (5.75 euros in a medium format, served very generously). Or the final addition to two … 32 euros. No dessert or drinks.

Right next door at Popeyes, Paris’s newest fast food restaurant, fried chicken burgers are on the menu from 8.45 to 9.95 euros. For 40 cl Chicken spicy, small fries, Fuze Tea (8.95 euros) and Chicken Deluxe of the same composition (9.95 euros) for only 18.90 euros for two. The cheapest of our range.
