Pension reform: Blocked by strikers, the Louvre was unable to open on Monday morning

Will the Louvre open this Monday? Due to the mobilization of part of the staff called to strike “at the initiative of the inter-union” of the institution, the Parisian museum had to remain closed anyway this morning, when it was supposed to receive its first visitors. at 9 o’clock.

The movement is part of “a desire to mobilize the inter-Allied Culture to demand the abolition of pension reform,” the Inter-Allied writes in a press release. CGT-Culture, CGT Spectacle, the Federal Union of State Trade Unions – CGT, CGT Book and the Departmental Union of CGT Paris “participate in this action along with the striking employees of the Louvre.” So, on their Twitter account, CGT Spectacle posted an aged version of the Mona Lisa, complete with a small “64 years old isn’t it” poster.

In the video posted by journalists who were present at the entrance to the Pyramid, dozens of museum employees block the passages.

“We are holding this action to show that a culture exists and is completely against pension reform,” Mehenna Belaid, Louvre security guard and SUD Culture favorite, told Liberation daily.

If it is still unclear whether the museum will be able to reopen on Monday, what is certain is that it will be closed on Tuesday as the union calls for a national mobilization against pension reform. And for good reason: it’s his weekly last day.
