Oscar 2022: “Spiderman: No Way Home”, the highest grossing of the pandemic, only had one nomination

On the morning of this February 8, the films nominated for the 2022 Oscars were announced. Great titles stand out, among them, Spider-Man: No Way Homea film starring Tom Holland that despite its overwhelming success at the international box office only reached a nomination for the Academy Awards.

The film starring Tom Holland, and which marks the long-awaited Spiderverse with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, was nominated in the Best Visual Effects categorywhere it will compete with another Marvel title: “Shang Chi: The Legend of the 10 Rings”.

In this way, the VFX work carried out by the Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures tape has been rewarded. Along with these superhero films, films such as “Dune”, “Free Guy” and “No Time To Die” will also compete in the category.

With this nomination, Marvel makes history again after “Black Panther” broke schemes in 2019 and became the first superhero movie to be recognized by the Academy in multiple categories. The following year, “Avengers: Endgame” repeated the milestone, but did not get the statuette.

It should be noted that Andrew Garfield was also nominated for the 2022 Oscars, but not for “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” but for his role in “Tick, Tick…Bomm!”. The actor is nominated in the Best Actor category and will compete with Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Smith and Denzel Washington.
