Wattpad will produce the movie “Boulevard”, written by Flor M. Salvador

To the delight of the fans. wattpad Webtoon Studios announced the film of the novel “Boulevard” by the Mexican writer Flor M. Salvadorwhich has 75 million copies read and is considered one of the literary successes of this platform.

The renowned author of children’s literature Javier Ruescas will be in charge of adapting this work for the big screen. The “Boulevard” film will be produced in Spain, a country where its physical edition will also be published on February 24.

Also, along with “Boulevard” will be the youth series based on the book by Venezuelan author Alex Mírez “Perfect Liars”, which has 105 million readings. This will be adapted for television by José Miguel Nuñez, along with the team of writers Anna Grajales and Paola Mazlum.

“Perfect Liars and Boulevard are incredibly popular Wattpad stories with millions of reads and devoted fans in Spanish-speaking countries (…) Alex, Flor, and a new generation of Spanish-language content creators are building legions of fans with their work on Wattpad. and WEBTOON. By investing in these projects and many more on our platforms, we will be giving our fans a new way to experience stories written by authors from the Spanish-speaking world. This is just the beginning of our investment in content in Spanish”stressed Aron Levitz, president of Wattpad Webtoon Studios through a press release.

This news comes after the premiere of “Through my window”, the new Netflix movie inspired by the story published by Ariana Godoy on Wattpad. This project managed to position itself in first place in 22 Netflix territories and among the top 10 in 85 regions, generating more than 33 million hours viewed during its first weekend on the streaming platform.

These two projects will be the first in Spanish self-financed by the Wattpad Webtoon Studios Development Fund. It should be noted that content in Spanish is the second largest category within Wattpad.
