Monumental Callao seeks to reactivate tourism in the historic port with cultural activities

The initiative Fleeting Art of Living It has been working on a series of cultural contents that are committed to increasingly uniting the community in the historic neighborhood of Buenos Aires and attracting tourists from all over the world as part of the economic reactivation after the pandemic.

This April 2, 8 new art exhibitions will be added with a diverse artistic call that stands out for the presence of new local talents on the scene and two renowned international guests.

The Italian artist Giacomo Rizzo is the special guest this season and presents us IN THE LAND after arriving in Peru four weeks ago as part of Fugaz’s residency program to explore the history, urban fabric, and anthropogenic geography that unites the ports of Palermo and Callao. The renowned artist has monumental works in different parts of the world and now in Peru.

The artist Gonzalo Fernández presents “Poetics of Material, Archeology of the Body”, his work inserts his own body inside an abandoned wall in the vicinity of Chan Chan, the mud-built citadel of the Chimús to capture the way in which the glorified pre-Columbian past and an uncertain future collide.

Two new talents on the art scene are Peter Alexander and Yen Plasencia. Peter Lara presents Metamorphosis where he interprets how the human is becoming inhuman since with the passage of time they show how we have separated even more and distanced ourselves from practices such as empathy, generosity, honesty, etc.

Yen Plasencia is present with “Portraits from the Subsoil”, a series of postcards of Lima from a suburban and introspective perspective. There is a poetics of material and a link with urban waste that builds an imaginary between the real and the unreal. It is a metaphor about the hidden face of the city that is only revealed to those who walk through it.

The artist Daniela Marín presents ‘Playful Gardens’. A series of pieces that are born from her need to spontaneously stamp a collection of fictitious and eccentric settings, where the artist reflects and plays around the sensations stored in her subconscious and dares to imagine adventures in hyper-color.

Nocturna Gallery and TIS Web & Digital Design present the exhibition “New York State Of Mind”, a project carried out by 2 artists from New York with the purpose of exhibiting a piece of the urban art of his city. This exhibition is a bi-personal work where urban interventions will be presented: graffiti and street photography. The money raised between sponsors and artists will be donated for the realization of art workshops for children of Callao.

The Rooftop Fugaz is presented with a new schedule, a complete gastronomic proposal on the terrace with the best view of the port and with live music from Son Tentación on Sunday, April 3. Meanwhile, in the Plaza Matriz, you can enjoy Kayvan Vega, who will perform at the Una Noche de Salsa festival on Sunday, April 3, along with Renzo Padilla.

Sala Blanca announces a new season of short theater. The last Sunday of April will present Circular Days with a new evening of poetry and wine tasting. Ursula Castrat brings us a new conceptual art store with pieces by prominent Peruvian artists that you can take home.
