Silk Sonic wins the Grammy for Record of the Year with “Leave the Door Open”

Silk Sonic, the retro project by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, won the grammys to the Record of the year with his single “Leave the Door Open”.

With this R&B song, the super duo beat established pop stars like Billie Eilish or Lil Nas X in one of the most important categories of the gala, which rewards the general execution of a musical theme.

At this point we are making an effort to remain humble”, joked Anderson .Paak when receiving the gramophone with Mars. “In the industry this is what we call a kill,” he continued.

“Leave the Door Open” had already won the coveted song of the year title, awarded to songwriters and composers.

Bruno Mars with a thin mustache and Anderson .Paak with a disconcerting wig received their fourth award of the day on stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Silk Sonic had already won two awards in the R&B category during the “premiere”, a pre-show event in Las Vegas.

Bruno Mars, a regular at the Grammy Awards with eleven awards under his belt before this Sunday, toured with Anderson .Paak in 2017. Four years later they announced that they had formed a group to produce an album.

Silk Sonic made his stage debut for the 2021 Grammy Awards performing “Leave The Door Open” as well as a tribute to the legendary Little Richard.

The super duo created by the two artists recreates both the sounds and the look of the 70s, with huge collars and suits of shiny velvet and sequins.
