Here, his statements about the upcoming event, the pandemic, his music, and his future expectations.

How has the pandemic affected your artistic career?

“The pandemic benefited me,” said Vijay, who explained that, in that period, Peruvian freestylers became famous after Peru lifted the international cup of the God Level Fest and the national freestyle became a phenomenon in social networks. He also says that during this time he was able to travel to the Dominican Republic to represent us at Red Bull Internacional 2020, he also won the international Bolivia Freestyle competition, among other participations.

For his part, Jota had a more bitter experience. “I locked myself up crying because I missed doing what I did.” He mentioned that the hardest part was not being able to do the shows with people and that he missed that interaction. Django talked about how difficult it was for MCs to make a living from concerts and that, for that reason, the FMC deciding to hold the first season in early 2021 was a blessing. “It’s been tough and difficult, but if we’re here we have to take advantage of it.”

-How is this second edition of the competition being experienced?

“The battles are being better this season. There is no longer a defined favorite and that makes it better, there are more expectations,” Django confessed to El Comercio, showing himself positive about this new season.

On the other hand, Vijay claims to have more fun than before. “Now I let myself go, I have more flow. I no longer focus on the format, but on saying the first thing I think” The former known as New Era states that he is going through a key personal construction process, from the change of his artistic name to his form of the way in which he expresses his ideas in battle.

Jota also holds a similar idea. “I just try to go have fun, have a good time, give my best”, said the second place in the standings to date, who on this fourth day will have to face Nekross again, after having beaten him in the edition passed amid criticism from some fans, who said that he only won because of the “friendship” he had with his opponent. In this regard, he remained firm saying that he prefers not to maintain rivalries. “Nekross is my brother, I never saw him as an opponent or direct competition.”

-What expectations do you have of the next battles?

The battles of day 4 are already confirmed and one of the most outstanding is that of Nekross versus Jota, as it would be the second time that they are together on stage after Jota won last season amid criticism from fans who They said that he could only win thanks to the alleged friendship he has with the rapper.

In this regard, El Comercio asked him for his impressions on the subject. “Nekross is my brother, I never saw him as an opponent or direct competition.” The second in the table stated that he will only do his job and give his best. “The result will be seen.

Vijay, for his part, was not exempt from controversy either, since the previous day he criticized a participant for going to “have fun” in the foreign competitions and not taking it seriously. “I made him see reason so that he realized that he could do much more than have fun,” answered the freestyler who will coincidentally make his debut at the FMS Internacional 2022. “I think I’m going to do my best, I’m going one hundred percent and leave even the soul on stage”.

musical projects

Finally they talked about their independent musical projects, beyond freestyle competitions. Vijay Kesh is preparing to release an album this May 22nd. “I will release it on my birthday because it represents me a lot. I am putting full effort into it as I have never put into any of my songs, ”he said, affirming that it was produced by himself together with his producer. “I’ve been studying music theory, learning to play the piano, making instrumentals to do everything alone,” he concluded by saying that this project excites him and he hopes it will be well received.

Jota also has his own way, and he maintained that the music he produces aims to make people “have fun, free themselves and not be sad.” “I brought out a song that people received very well called” Pa lante “, it was well received by children, young people, adults,” he mentioned with emotion. Although for him, the creative process is simpler. “I look for beats, if I like the beat I make it a theme”, he said summarizing his career as a composer.

Finally, Django, who last year made a musical collaboration with Jota, declared that he prefers not to separate music from freestyle, since he is a more purist rapper. “I make music that I like,” he asserted.
