Great news for K-drama fans! Pachinko, the Apple TV+ original series, has been renewed for a second season. Sunja’s story will continue to be told in the next season revealed after the end of the first on April 29. Pachinko is an Apple TV+ original production based on the bestselling book of the same name by author Min Jin Lee.
What is Pachinko about?
The series tells the story of Sunja, who is a native of Korea. Our story begins in 1900 and we follow our protagonist, who experiences first-hand the Japanese occupation of Korean territory. Throughout four generations, we will know the life of Sunja and his family who leave everything behind in order to find something better far from home. This is how they will seek to survive and live difficult experiences that will form and mark them for the rest of their lives.
A series that talks about war, peace, love, loss, prejudice, and the attempt at reconciliation between nations. In Pachinko, you will be able to see reflected the American influence in Asian societies and the rise of a new generation that does not lose hope that the world will change for the better. Also, you will witness the development and evolution of Japan and Korea as well as the grudges and social stigmas between them.
The cast mainly features Youn Yuh-jung (Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner, who plays Sunja as an old woman), Kim Min Ha (as a young Sunja), Lee Min Ho as Hansu, and Noh Steve Sang-Hyun as Isak. . Other roles include Jin Ha, Anna Sawai, Jung Eun-chae, Park Sohee, and Kaho Minami, among others.

Pachinko premiered on March 28, 2022 and since then it has become a successful series for the streaming platform, which is why it has been renewed for a second season. In addition, the series had a 98% score from film critics and 95% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, the well-known film and TV review website.
Pachinko was well received and accepted by critics, being praised by different critics and media as a masterpiece and a great adaptation.
Soo Hugh, the creator of the series, has revealed on previous occasions that she would like to deliver four seasons of Pachinko to the public.
