“Agua, El musical”, a work inspired by the story “Agua” by the Peruvian writer Jose Maria Arguedasarrives from May 8 at the Mario Vargas Llosa Theater, in San Borja, with a message of respect for our traditional culture and recognition of the conflicts of peoples throughout the country.
The play introduces us to Ernestina, a young teacher from the province of Utek, who will confront her past when she receives an unexpected visit; her best friend Panchita will lead a fight against landowner Don Braulio who unfairly denies her access to the town’s water. What happened in San Juan?
From the mixture of two artistic conventions, from the Andean world and the world of Broadway, The work aims to break the biases that keep Peruvians divided and unite as a society. Through songs and dances in Peruvian folklore, it tells a story that portrays the traditions and problems experienced by the peoples of the interior of the country.

“Those forgotten towns where the State does not arrive, where injustice reigns as they are managed by obscure characters with economic or political power only to maintain their own interests. It is there where the actions of the people themselves will determine their future, just as each of our actions will determine ours.”, he adds.
