Tennant had previously appeared in the 2013 50th anniversary special, while Tate is preparing for his first comeback since the show’s fourth season in 2008 with “Journey’s End.”

To the delight of his fans, Russell T Davieswho returns as showrunner of the successful series, has also shed more light on this long-awaited reunion.

They are back! And it seemed impossible. First we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what the hell is going on? Maybe it’s a lost story, or a parallel world, or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it is going to be spectacular as two of our biggest stars come together for the battle of a lifetime.”noted the screenwriter through Instagram.

The actor known for his role as ‘Eric Effiong’ in “Sex Education” will replace Jodie Whittaker as the next lead in “Doctor Who” in season 14, the BBC has confirmed.

“There are no words to describe how I feel. A mix of deeply honored, beyond excited and, of course, a little scared. This role and show means so much to so many people around the world, including myself, and each of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I’ll do my best to do the same”, Gatwa said through a statement released by the British chain.
