“The Lincoln Lawyer”, inspired by the saga of crime novels by Michael Connelly, is already one of the most popular series on streaming. Available on Netflix Latin America with the title “The Lincoln Lawyer”, this series features the Mexican Manuel García-Rulfo as the protagonist.
Fiction presents us with the story of Mickey Haller, a lawyer who, after an accident, restarts his career in the always turbulent city of Los Angeles. To start, Haller will agree to take on the cases of a colleague who has just been murdered. In addition to his determined style, this lawyer will be characterized by driving a classic Lincoln model car.
The series is based on the saga of novels by Michael Connelly based on the character Mickey Haller. In this case, the story on Netflix is based on “The Brass Verdict” (2008), which is the second book in the saga that began “The Lincoln Lawyer” in 2005.
This first season available on Netflix has 10 chapters: “Back to the ring”, “The key piece”, “Impetus”, “Chaos theory”, “Twelve lemmings in a box”, “Corruption”, “The lemming number seven”, “Back to the key piece”, “The uncanny valley” and “The verdict”. Each episode lasts between 46 and 58 minutes.
Due to the popularity of Michael Connelly, his novels have inspired film adaptations. His 1998 book “Blood Debt” was made into a movie in 2022. In addition to directing it, Clint Eastwood played the lead role of Terry McCaleb, a veteran FBI agent who has been given a new lease on life, via a heart transplant from a murder victim.
But, in addition to this film, which is available on HBO Max, we recommend you take a look at the first adaptation of the book with the character who stars in “The Lincoln Lawyer”.
“The Lincoln Lawyer”, or “The Innocent”, premiered in 2011 with Matthew McConaughey in the role of Mickey Haller. Check out the trailer here.
This is the official synopsis of the tape:
Mickey Haller, a shrewd Los Angeles attorney, has specialized in defending petty criminals from the slums. When presented with the opportunity to defend the young Louis Roulet, a wealthy Beverly Hills heir, accused of attempted murder of a prostitute, his career is turned upside down, because this means earning a much higher income than usual.
Are both stories connected? The answer is no, because the Netflix series with Manuel García-Rulfo is neither a remake nor a sequel, just a new adaptation of Michael Connelly’s work. But if you’ve already finished watching this new saga, you’ll surely like this movie, which also has very good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The Lincoln Lawyer” with Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe is available on Prime Video (in Latin America).
