Karol G triumphs at the 2022 Tu Música Urbano Awards with nine awards

The Colombian women Carol G swept this Thursday in the third edition of the Premios Tu Música Urbano by obtaining nine awards, surprising and far surpassing artists who led the nominations such as Bad Bunny.

The main awards won by Karol G in the show, held at the Puerto Rico Coliseum in San Juan, were Artist of the Year, Female Artist Album of the Year for “KG0516″ and Video of the Year for “El makinon”.

The interpreter, absent from the evening, also won the Top Social Artist awards, Remix of the Year for “Poblado remix”, Collaboration of the Year for “Mamiii”, together with Becky G, Top Crossover Song for “Don’t be shy”, Top Trap Song for “I don’t wish you evil” and Concert/Tour of the Year for “Bichota Tour”.

The women were for the first time the top winners of these awards, broadcast live on the Telemundo channel, since the American was in second place Becky G.

Becky G won four awards in the categories Top Female Artist, Collaboration of the Year for “Mamiii”, Top Urban Tropical Song for “Fulanito” and Video of the Year for “Ram pam pam”.

With three awards daddy yankeecalled El Jefe del reggaeton, won the Top Male Artist, Top Urban Pop Song awards with “X Última vez” and Male Artist Album of the Year for “Legendaddy”.

El Alfa, meanwhile, also won three awards: Top Dembow Artist, Top Urban Tropical Song for “Fulanito” and Top Dembow Song for “La mama de la mama.”

The same number of awards was obtained by Argentina Mary Becerra, which won Top Rising Star Female, Song of the Year for “What else then?” and Video of the New Year Artist for “Between us remix”.

On the red carpet prior to the show, Becerra, who was attending the awards for the first time, told Efe that she felt “delighted to be in the cradle of reggaeton together with artists” that she admires so much.

Bad Bunny, who led the awards with twelve nominations, only got two, as did J Balvin, who also led the nominations.

Farruko’s spirituality at Tu Música Urbano Awards 2022

The awards included 19 musical presentations, among which Farruko stood out, interpreting “Nazareno”, and Víctor Manuelle with the urban singer Miky Woodz in their collaboration “Let’s see if the gas peels”.

Farruko won the award for Top Christian Song for “Gracias Remix”along with Pedro Capó, and received the Dedication Award.

After winning the first prize, he knelt on the stage and assured that it is the “most special” of his career due to his recent spiritual conversion.

“All glory be to God” said the singer, who thanked the award “to all Christian music artists” for “the fight they do” since “it is not easy to carry the message.”

And, upon receiving the Dedication Award, the thousands of people who attended the event began to shout “Farru, Farru, Farru”, to which he replied that he preferred that “They will shout to God more.”

“I am not proud of my past, but I am not ashamed either, because all my falls, slips, joys and congratulations are what have made me the warrior I am today”, he reflected.

Victor Manuellewho received the Contribution Award, granted to those artists of other musical styles who were not afraid to experiment with urban sounds, thanked all the artists of the genre who trusted him when he began in 2004 to mix salsa and reggaeton.

“I knew where the genre was headed. No one has told me no. So thank you for contributing with me to this idea that I had in this vision and that I now see is the number number genre in the world”, highlighted the salsero.

After this moment, the Puerto Rican artist attended the media in a short press conference, in which he said that these awards “in a certain way” they rejuvenate you.

“I made certain decisions, which at that time, were quite criticized when I was asked why I collaborated so much with urban artists and now this year, with this award and recognition, it makes me understand that the vision was quite clear”he underlined.

Other winners were Tiësto, Nicky Jam, Myke Towers, Eladio Carrión, Pedro Capó, Alex Zurdo, AnittaAventura, Bizarrap, Chael Producing, CJ, Crissin, El Cherry Scom, Gera MX, Kim Loaiza, Mariah Angeliq, Natan & Shander, Nicki Nicole and Totoy El Frio.

Pioneering artists and the new generation of reggaeton attended the awards, parading down the red carpet with dark glasses, colorful dresses and a lot of glitter on chains, earrings, rings and bracelets.
