“Minions: A villain is born”: everything you need to know before seeing the new movie in the saga

The plot

The “Minions” sequel is set in the 1970s, with 12-year-old Felonius Gru living in the suburbs with his mother and trying to rule the world from his basement. The little one is a great admirer of the “Vicio6″, a supergroup of villains. After ousting their leader, legendary martial artist Wild Knuckles, Gru decides to apply to join the team.

In the interview everything goes wrong and together with Kevin, Stuart, Bob and Otto, a new Minion with braces, must solve the problem in which they have been involved after stealing a precious gem that has great mystical power.

This will make him one of the enemies in “Vicio6″. During the conflict, Gru and the Minions must turn to an unreliable source – Wild Knuckles himself. Will they achieve their goal? Apparently, even villains need help from their friends.

The 3D computer-animated comedy, directed by Kyle Balda and Brad Abelson, was announced in January 2017 by Illumination and Universal Studios. By July of that same year, production began.

The film was scheduled to be released on July 3, 2020. However, by March 19 of that year, Illumination announced that the film had been delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the film industry.

Subsequently, it was indicated that “Minions: A villain is born” would hit theaters in July 2021. However, the film will only see the light of day this June 30 in our country.

The cast

The new movie has Steve Carell as Gru in the original voices, with Pierre Coffin in the Minions voices as Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto. Also in the cast are Taraji P. Henson as Belle Bottom, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles, Dolph Lundgren as Svengeance, and Julie Andrews as Marlena, Gru’s mother. For the dubbed version of this new film, the Mexican comedian Andrés Bustamante will be in the role of Gru. The big surprise of the cast in Spanish is the Panamanian singer Sech, who will give the voice to Biker.
