Lasso from ‘Brown Eyes’ defends Maluma from criticism for his participation in Qatar 2022

Andrés Vicente Lazo Uslar, better known by his stage name Lassohe did not remain silent and decided to give his opinion on the rain of criticism that Maluma generated by agreeing to sing at the Soccer World Cup held in Qatar, a country denounced for not respecting human rights.

Let’s remember that the Colombian singer Shakira, refused to be part of this world cup, despite his great experience in this type of event. British singer and actress Dua Lipa did the same and Rod Stewartone of the biggest rock stars, also turned down the invitation of the FIFA.

Nevertheless, Lassointerpreter of the songs ‘Ojos marrones’, ‘Hasta ese día’ ‘Te veo’ and Algodón’, came out to defend his Colombian colleague and urged Maluma’s critics not to consume things about the World Cup in Qatar, otherwise they will be “hypocritical ”.

If you’re going to hate Maluma for singing at the World Cup opening, well and good, but then you can’t watch any game, or consume anything that has the slightest bit to do with the event. It is the only way not to be an accomplice, everything else is to be a hypocrite”, wrote the artist on his Twitter account.

His statements caused controversy among his followers, who were divided between those who support his position and those who believe they have the right to criticize the Qatar 2022 World Cup and everything that happens around this football event.

‘You can’t compare a person who is a football fan who has nothing left of another, with an artist who is directly benefiting from the event’; ‘Great Lasso! Let’s normalize misogyny, homophobia, labor exploitation, denigration of human rights, etc. Let’s normalize all that and long live Maluma. Long live Qatar. Long live the World Cup’; ‘Well no. It is not my fault that the corruption of FIFA brought the World Cup to that country. I will watch the games and criticize Qatar all I want, including their party of accomplices going for money’; ‘Rather, nothing that has to do with violating human rights, do not consume Shein, do not use cell phones, etc., nothing that exploits humans since so many suddenly care about human rights‘”, were some of the messages that Lasso’s opinion generated.
