the mexican singer Julieta Venegas He presented his new album, “Tu Historia” on Tuesday, whose title, he said, refers to the process of going through his past to build the future.

“It is what I think it has been and is the music for me”, he said at a press conference at the Teatro Metropólitan, located in the center of the Mexican capital and where he will perform next Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th.

With “Tu Historia” (2022), Venegas (California, 1970) returned to studio records seven years after his last release, “Algo Sucede” (2015).

However, he recently worked and co-wrote the song “Lo Siento BB :/” (2021) with the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, which won him the Latin Grammy for best performance of a reggaeton song.

In her new album, made up of 10 songs composed and written by her during the coronavirus pandemic, the Mexican dealt with themes such as friendship, love and reconciliation with her past.

Among them, compositions such as “Mismo Amor”, “Caminar Sola”, “En Tu Orilla”, “I found you” or the homonymous “Your Story” stand out.

Music is photos of every moment of my life, of my musical and emotional state. I like to know that I have a journey done and I feel that there is something in me that has changed a lot, and something that remains the same”, he stated.

With his new album, released on November 11, he inaugurated a new stage as an independent artist, after he left the record company he worked with, Sony, and signed for a smaller one, Altafonte.

“I had a good experience with the label I was with, but I felt that there were things that were taken for granted. Creatively, I need to not fall into inertia. I want to do things my way, without a very big structure. It’s more fun and cute”commented on it.

If there was a record figure on this album, she had an impact, it was herself.

The singer began to forge “Your Story” during the pandemic and it arose from the need she felt to sit down and write and reflect on her feelings during those months.

“And over time everything started to happen. It was a slow process, which started at the end of 2020 and we are already at the end of 2022 ″, she explained.

The first song he composed was “La Nostalgia”, when he learned that he would not be able to travel to Mexico to visit his family and that he talks about not taking the past as something negative.

“En Tu Orilla”, on the other hand, is inspired by the poem “Guárdame en ti” by the Chilean Raúl Zurita, whom he discovered during the pandemic.

(The poem) asks someone to keep him on the shore. It’s cute, where is the edge of a person? He touched her every day, when she woke me up during the quarantine, and he accompanied me a lot ”he confessed.

In “Walking Alone” she changed register and tried to explain the insecurity that women in Latin America feel when they go down the street alone.

Venegas, who comes from a tour of the United States, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay or Spain, will offer two intimate concerts at the Metropolitan Theater on November 25 and 26, in which he will mix his new repertoire with older songs.

“I hope we sing a lot. If there is something that I appreciate more and more, it is the fact of singing to people and that they sing with me.”, he stressed. (With information from EFE)
