In the 80s, during the golden age of vedettismo in Peru, clarita chestnut illuminated Lima’s scenes with its own light. She exuded energy, flirtation and talent, first in the café-theater, then in humorous tuned television spots and on the big screen.
Dressed in feathers and sequins, the artist with prominent curves shared presentations with Gisela Valcárcel, Amparo Brambilla, Bélgica Rodas, Iris Loza, Giovanna Vélez, among other popular figures of that time. She also hosted the program “Una noche contigo” on Channel 7 and was part of the cast of artists from “La Gran Revista” and “Risas y Salsa”. In 1990 she acted in the movie “Luna de Almendra” and participated in countless plays.
At the beginning of this decade, away from vedettismo, she traveled to Miami where she married an American citizen, several years later she returned to Peru and after being widowed she lived alone in an apartment in Miraflores.
In an interview with Premium Peru TV, which dates back six years, Clara de Jesús Benites Roque, her real name, said that when she left vedettismo and television, she worked as a ballet teacher. She also announced that she would be part of the staging “When you need me” and that she would perform a musical by the businessman Juan Bojanich.
According to the comic actress Zelma Gálvez and the former vedette Fanny Alache, Clarita Castaña has been hospitalized at the Edgardo Rebagliatti Hospital for several days due to health complications.
“Clarita lives alone and since she didn’t answer the phone her sister looked for her at her house, she was sick, she had to take her to an emergency. How terrible, she was unconscious for several days in the ICU, I am very distressed, please, let us pray for her”, asked Zelma Gálvez.
“He was admitted to the hospital on November 13, one day before his birthday, due to severe cramps. She had to undergo surgery, she had a virus in her intestine, she was in the ICU and last Tuesday they transferred her to the ward. Thank God she is recovering, let us pray for her, her prayers help, they are very valuable”, highlights Alache.
Likewise, the artistic businessman Juan Bojanich, specified that the family of the former vedette prefers to keep the subject in reserve. “Her two sisters are taking care of her, they are with her, she is very loved, we are all praying for her speedy recovery“, held.
