Nicole Kidman almost canceled the shooting of her new series “Nine Perfect Strangers

In 40 years of career, Nicole Kidman has never worked on a series as complicated as Nine Perfect Strangers. The Australian star returns to the screen as the lead actress and executive producer of this adaptation of a novel by Liane Moriarty (author among others of Big Little Lies, also adapted in the form of a series, with the success that we know), broadcast on Hulu, and which turns out to be the first major Hollywood project to have been filmed in Australia after the start of the pandemic, with a very strict.

And if we are to believe the actress, it was not easy.

“There is a tremendous amount of stress in being responsible for the safety and health of people. We took this very seriously. There were tests, the wearing of masks and if someone had a sore throat – even if the test was negative – we would postpone the shoot or we would shut down. We couldn’t put anyone in danger. And we got away without a single case, which is extraordinary. She told the Sydney Herald. But as she revealed in another interview for The Sunday Telegraph, all that stress nearly derailed the project.

“It was a frantic race. We were fully supported by all the actors and the government and we were able to continue making the series instead of stopping it, which was the other possibility, ”she said.

Based on the eponymous novel released in 2018, Nine Perfect Strangers tells how 9 city dwellers meet in a fitness center managed by the surprising Masha, thus embodied by Nicole Kidman. And the star admits that she was fascinated by the character.

“I love the idea of ​​this woman who is totally and completely committed to healing other people, and who truly, genuinely believes that she can show a way through pain, trauma or whatever. else. And I love that she always has an unexpected response, ”added Keith Urban’s wife.

Nine Perfect Strangers will be available on the Hulu streaming platform in the United States from August 18, and in France on Amazon Prime Video. For now, the hexagonal release date has not been announced.
