Mario Vargas Llosa and Isabel Preysler would have ended their relationship, according to the magazine “¡Hola!”

This Tuesday the magazine Hello! reported that the Spanish socialite Isabella Preysler and the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize for Literature, have ended their relationship. The two had known each other since at least the mid-1980s.

“Mario and I have decided to end our relationship definitively”, the magazine quotes as statements by Preysler.

“I already admired him before. She is a person full of life and always has a kind word.”, Preysler came to say about their relationship. The last time they were both seen together was in Madrid for the birthday of their mutual friend, Gregorio Marañón.

The romance between the two became known in 2015, the year after the death of Preysler’s third husband, Miguel Boyer. Since then, both have been seen in multiple social activities, including a visit to Peru in 2017 for the writer’s 81st birthday, both passing through the city of Arequipa. Back then, the Nobel Prize winner donated 7,000 volumes from his library to the region where he was born.

In 2018 both also visited Arequipa, as part of the Hay Festival. On that occasion, Preysler gave statements to RPP. “Mario has told me a lot about the shrimp sucker. (…) I arrived yesterday, but I immediately felt the warmth of the people of Arequipa”, Held. (News in development)
