Marvel Studios returns to China after a ban of almost 4 years

Tremendous news for fans of the MCU movies. And it is that Marvel Studios has returned to China after a long veto received post “Avengers: Endgame”, which ended up disappearing almost the entire ‘Phase 4’ of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Asian country.

China is one of the most profitable countries for both Disney and Marvel Studios and it is because here, due to its high number of people living, it gave the brand a large amount of money. Among the most profitable films was “Avengers: Endgame”, the last of ‘Phase 3’ of the UCM and which gave him a total of 600 million dollars. Much of the 2,798 billion achieved.

The story begins with “Iron Man 3,” when the Chinese government forced Marvel Studios to change some things and add extra scenes at the end of it, which is why many parts had to be re-recorded. From this situation, Kevin Feige and the other Disney executives said that they will not make these types of changes to their tapes.

After this, another mess was created with the premiere of “Doctor Strange” since they did not like that Tibet was used for the film, asking that that be changed and not only that, but also the casting of Tilda Swinton as “The Ancient One”.

Finally, after “Avengers: Endgame” came the veto, alluding that “if changes were not made, the films would not be released.” “Black Widow” was not released in China because it was celebrating the 100th anniversary of the communist party, banning foreign releases and only releasing local films.

Then there was another problem with “Shang-Chi”, where the Chinese government said that it should not be released because in the old Marvel comics, the main character was very yellow, a racist act, not to mention that a newspaper appears that is against the communist party; while with “Eternals”, the situation was directly due to the pro LGTBI + content and the statements of its director, Chloe Zhao, who said that she “preferred a thousand times to live in the United States than in China” and other political statements.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” also suffered from the veto and is that the most anticipated superhero movie of all time by fans of ‘Spider-Man’ in the Asian country could not legally see it since the Chinese government asked that remove the statue of liberty, something that they were not willing to do at Marvel Studios.

Now, after three years, Marvel will be able to re-release its films in the Chinese market and the film that will debut here will be “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and this will be on February 7th. After this, Marvel Studios will continue its path in the Asian country with “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” on the 17th of the same month.
