A genius in concert: Al Di Meola will perform at the Gran Teatro Nacional

Al Di Meola, the virtuoso guitarist with more than four decades of experience will perform in our country thanks to his “Tour 2023” with which he will visit several cities in South America. The concert will include a synthesis of his more than twenty albums, including his most recent production “Across the Universe”, a tribute to The Beatles. As one of the world’s leading jazz fusion musicians, his skills have been lauded for their precision and intensity. He is also recognized for combining influences from rock, avant-garde and world music to create complex and accessible sounds at the same time. His solos are characterized by unexpected turns that push the limits of what is possible on the guitar.

With 47 years of experience, he has collaborated with various renowned artists such as Chick Corea, Lenny White, Phil Collins, Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Herbie Hancock, among others. He also has a discography leading the fusion supergroup Return To Forever, and the trio Rite of Strings with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty.

The Italian-American has received numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music, the Miles Davis Honorary Award, a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, among others. The recognitions have cemented him as one of the most prolific and prodigious composers on the six strings.
