The film “The Fabelmans” by the iconic director Steven Spielberg is nominated for Best Film at the awards Oscars 2023. A good thermometer that measures her as a favorite to win this distinction are her most recent awards for Best Drama Film and Best Direction at the Golden Globes.
The script was written by Spielberg together with Tony Kushner, the same screenwriter with whom he wrote “The West Side Story”, a film also nominated for an Oscar from the previous year. In total, the director has already won two of these awards for the films “Schindler’s List” Y “Saving Private Ryan”.
The plot of this recent film narrates the life of a boy from Arizona named Sammy Fabelman, the son of an eccentric artist (Michelle Williams) and a pragmatic father (Paul Dano) who through movies seeks to forge his own identity, while a devastating family secret threatens their lifestyle.
Unlike his other films, this film does not seek to be a box office success, but rather a look at a past marked by cinema and nostalgia. The cast is completed by Gabriel LaBelle, Seth Rogen, Julia Butters and the famous director, and sometimes actor, David Lynch.
The latter was one of the most difficult actors to get, as Lynch was not interested in the project. After the intervention of his friend Laura Dern and multiple calls, Lynch agreed to play the legendary director John Ford on the condition that he be given the wardrobe two weeks before the start of filming and the delivery of a bag of Cheetos daily at his dressing room.
The film that has been named one of the ten best films of 2022, and that is already rated as one of the public’s favorites, will hit theaters in Peru on February 23, 2023.
