Dwayne Johnson in “Fast and Furious”: how was his character in the saga led by Vin Diesel?

After months of waiting, fans of the “Fast and Furious” saga will finally be able to enjoy the tenth installment “Fast X” from this Thursday, May 18 in theaters in Peru and Latin America (and a day later in the United States). Although, some followers accessed the film -starring Vin Diesel- in preview and the production of Universal Pictures brings several new features.

So, before delving more into this character and his future in the saga, let’s remember how Luke Hobbs ended up in the “Fast and Furious” spin-off.

Dwayne Johnson’s first appearance in the million-dollar franchise occurred in 2011 with “Fast and Furious: 5in Control.” In that tape, he gave his introduction to the story with the character of Luke Hobbs, a special agent of the United States Diplomatic Security Service. His mission at that time was to capture criminals Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) for being accused of the death of four DEA agents in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). However, he realizes that these men do not represent a danger to the agency and ends up killing the corrupt Hernán Reyes (Joaquim De Almeida).

After that, Hobbs “joins” (somehow) Dom’s family and they become allies for the adventures that go through until “Fast and Furious 8”, a film in which Dwayne Johnson’s character retires to spend more time with her daughter. This departure from the story would have occurred due to the fight he had with the actor Vin Diesel.

But, the production convinced him to participate in the spin-off “Fast and Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”, where he would not have to share a set with the actor who gives life to Dominic Toretto. For this new adventure, and despite his retirement, Luke Hobbs is summoned by the CIA along with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to capture a traitorous MI6 agent who has stolen a virus, which can be lethal to humanity. . But, he finds out that she is the sister of the Shaws and her real enemy is Brixton Lore (Idris Elba) along with Eton. At the end of the film, the duo of Hobbs and Shaw manage to take down Brixton, but Dwayne Johnson’s character receives a call that another dangerous virus has been stolen. In this way, the production left an open ending for the return to action of ‘La Roca’.

The simple answer is yes, actor Dwayne Johnson appears in the latest installment of the “Fast X” franchise. But not as fans would have expected. His participation is only reflected in the post credit scene.

In this context, an armed team enters a warehouse that seems abandoned, but splits up in search of probably a criminal. One of them, whose face cannot be identified due to his helmet and glasses, arrives at what appears to be a control center. A cell phone starts ringing and this person decides to answer it.

In this way, the return of Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs is revealed. What was he trying to find in this post credit scene? It is not certain. Another fact that has not gone unnoticed is that the plot of “Fast and Furious: 5in Control” and the death of Hernán Reyes (Joaquim De Almeida) will be linked again. Did he have another son besides Dante (Jason Momoa) who is the villain of “Fast X”? The only thing that can be confirmed so far is that we will see “The Rock” as Luke Hobbs in the eleventh installment of “Fast and Furious” (or surely a “spin-off”).

In “Fast X,” Toretto’s family will have to face Dante (Jason Momoa), who will seek revenge after his life was destroyed in the fifth “Fast and Furious” film during the bank robbery carried out by Dominic and Brian O’ Conner (Paul Walker).
