“The Little Mermaid”: IMDb warns against bombardment of negative reviews of the Disney film

Faced with this tense situation that Disney’s new live-action movie is experiencing, IMDb clarified that its rating mechanism had detected a “unusual voting activity” with “The Little Mermaid”.

“To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation was applied”, reads the warning issued by IMDb on its platform available in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Brazil and Mexico.

He also added that they accept and consider all votes “received by users, not all votes have the same impact on the final rating. When unusual voting activity is detected, an alternate weighting calculation may be applied to preserve the reliability of our system.”

However, IMDb hasn’t been the only review site taking action on comments about “The Little Mermaid.” The French site AlloCiné specified that they were observing “an unusual distribution of scores that calls for the need for caution.” “We encourage you to make your own decisions about the film,” sentenced.
