Noel Schajris rebels against streaming and releases his songs on his own website

Argentine nationalized Mexican singer-songwriter Noel Schajris QHe wants to return to the love of timeless music and get away from the hunt for numbers, something that, he said in an interview with EFE, he sees as possible by going beyond what the streaming platforms dictate.

“I feel that (music) is being devalued in an industry that prioritizes numbers, and prioritizes the fictitious, because they are not even real numbers, they are cell phones putting ‘play’ 24/7 in a room, and the artist falls into that little madness” , considered the member of the renowned duet “Sin bandera” together with Leonel García.

With this, he said, artists often can’t even make a living from the music they make. He recalled that the digital platforms were born to empower the artist against the abuses of some record companies but “they did not fulfill their function.”

That is why Schajris decided to publish his new album, “#SiempreLoSupe”, on April 21 and distribute it through his own website.

“It is an album that is born from absolute freedom, it is born from the need to explore and express whatever there is without any kind of fear. It is an album that goes completely against the grain of what the industry proposes”he explained.

Of the seven previously unreleased songs on the album, three are collaborations with top artists, such as Molly Miller, Tony Levin and Dave Levita, who have been involved in recording albums by multiple international artists such as Taylor Swift and John Mayer.

“If the ‘streaming’ industry wants two-minute songs, well, I have one of almost eight, with solos where the artists are musicians, where the artists who are ‘featuring’ are musicians, artists of their instrument. All the equations on this record are inverted.” said.

The full album and the videos (which form a miniseries) will be on the Schajris platform so that people who buy the digital album can access it, as well as the lyrics and credits of the songs.

With this type of music consumption, listeners listen to the songs and appreciate the content of the work in a different way, in addition to the fact that albums are quickly lost among the others on streaming platforms.

The songs and records that have changed my life are art, they are timeless, and that is what I want to do. I can’t get into an ephemeral and timed game when what I want to do is something timeless, and the best way to do it is on a timeless platform that takes us out of the algorithm and allows me to offer my album directly from my heart to you.” , concluded.
