Los Fabulosos Cadillacs gather more than 300,000 people in the Zócalo of Mexico City

“We made history again, we broke the attendance record with 300,000 people in the Zócalo of Mexico City enjoying the epic concert of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs with white balance”, the mayoress of the Mexican capital, Claudia Sheibaum, pointed out on social networks.

“Thanks to all the audience for being up to the task”he added.

The previous record was held by the popular Grupo Firme, which registered an attendance of more than 280,000 people, on September 25, 2022.

The most important public square in the country and where the National Palace is located, the residence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was insufficient to see the Argentine band and the tide of thousands of people took refuge in the streets surrounding the Zócalo.

In their presentation in the Mexican capital, lasting just under two hours, the Argentine combo reviewed hits from their albums “El león” (1992), Vasos vacíos (1993), “Rey azúcar” (1995) and Fabulosos Calavera (1997). , “La marcha del golazo solitario” (1999), in addition to hits prior to these albums until completing 24 celebrated and chanted songs.

With Vicentico on vocals and Flavio Cianciarullo, bass and vocals, as leaders, the band opened the concert with force by linking three of their classic “Cadillacs”, the opening instrumental; “Manuel Santillán, the lion”, and “Too much pressure”.

It was followed by “El muerto”, “Carmela”, “I’m sick of seeing you with others” and continued with “El genio del dub/Radio Kriminal”, “Skulls and little devils”, sung in chorus by the thousands of people who arrived at the plaza since 10 hours before and endured the intense sun and a rain prior to the concert.

The Argentines also sang “Los condenaditos”, “El aguijón”, “Número 2 en tu lista”, “Stop calling me like that”, “Saco azul” and closed the central part of the show with the hits, “Siguiendo la luna ”, “V Centenario”, “Carnaval toda la vida”, “Mal bicho” and “Matador”, these last two chanted and danced throughout the Mexican plaza.

On the return and to close the concert, the band continued with “Today I cried song”, “My girlfriend fell into a blind well”, “Belcha” and the farewell came with the classics “Vasos vacíos”, “El satánico Dr. Cadillac” and “I wouldn’t sit at your table”.

“Thank you so much dear, dear. Farewell, it has been a great honor for us and this will be unforgettable!”, rframed Vicentico as a way of recognizing the Mexican public.

In addition to Vicentico and Flavio, Sergio Rotman (saxophone), Mario Siperman (keyboards), Fernando Ricciardi (drums), Daniel Lozano (trumpet), members of the band since its founding in 1984, stood out on stage.

The group is also accompanied by the sons of the leaders: Florián Fernández Capello (guitar) and Astor Cianciarulo (percussion, drums and bass), along with Joaquín De Francisco (trombone).

The concert was part of the recently started tour “El León del Ritmo Tour” that took the Argentines to the Coachella festival, in Indio California in April and to appear two nights in Buenos Aires, at the end of May, after five years of not play in Argentina.

With their performance in the Mexican capital, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs joined other artists and bands that have performed in said plaza, such as Roger Waters, Paul MCCARTNEYManú Bye, Café Tacvba, Los Tigres del Norte, La Maldita Vecindad, Silvio Rodriguez, Joan Manuel Serrat and rosalia.

After this presentation, the Cadillacs, as they are popularly known, will return to Mexico to perform on November 4 in the city of Monterrey, on November 8 and 9 in Mexico City at the Palacio de los Deportes and on November 11 at the Guadalajara city.
