Chimango Lares and the Scissor Dancers headline Yilan International Festival

Peru is preparing for a remarkable participation in the prestigious Yilan International Festival, the most important cultural event in Taiwan, which has attracted more than 10 million visitors and 399 groups from 98 countries. The Peruvian delegation will be led by the virtuoso violinist Andres Chimango Lares and his impressive group of Scissor Dancers.

The festival will be held at the majestic Dong Shan River Water Park in Yilan. This setting will provide the perfect stage for Chimango Lares and his troupe of talented dancers to showcase their art.

Peruvian participation does not stop there, Mr. Gregorio Condori “Lapla” from Huaycahuacho, a figure recognized as a Meritorious Personality of Culture, will also be part of the delegation, likewise the renowned Danzaq Cusi Cusi from Morcolla Chico and Encanto from Morcolla will complete the national representation.

Particularly notable are Awkipuma and Illariy, grandsons of the first violinist of the Andes and known as the New Promises of the Scissors Dance.

This opportunity will allow the world to appreciate Peru’s cultural heritage through its ancestral dances and the virtuoso musical performance of Chimango Lares. His participation in the Yilan International Festival will not only raise the name of Peru, but will also strengthen the cultural ties between our nation and Taiwan.
