Benedict Cumberbatch protests against toxic masculinity

Benedict Cumberbatch is very clear: men must question themselves and radically change their behavior towards women. And that goes for “all men”.

“We have to change the behavior of men and, in order to do that, we have to kind of lift the lid. It seems to me that’s the right thing to do. And it is all the more important in a world which asks questions and finally points the finger at the insufficiencies ”, he declared to Sky News (relayed by The Times), while promoting his new film, Power of The Dog.

The actor notes that, if the “survivors” can “speak today”, the “recognition of the abuses is not enough”. You have to “examine the reason behind the oppressive behavior” if men are to make the changes necessary to live in a fair environment.

Listen to repair

The interpreter of Doctor Strange attacks in particular the “denial” of some who hide behind the hashtag “Not all men”, thinking thus to clear the bad behavior of some. “Today there is this kind of rebellion, this denial, this childish defensive position of ‘all men are not bad’ etc, but no. We just have to shut up and listen, ”he added.

In the Jane Campion film, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Phil Burbank, a cowboy in the 1920s, who reigns over his Montana ranch by sowing terror. He gives the reply to Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons.
