Ridley Scott Blames Millennials for ‘The Last Duel’ Box Office Flop

For Ridley Scott, it’s quite simple: millennials are solely responsible for the huge flop of The Last Duel at the box office. After a good month of exploitation, the medieval film which looks back on the last legal duel arbitrated in France in the 14th century shows catastrophic results. Only $ 27 million in global box office revenue for a $ 100 million budget.

A shipwreck all the more curious as the footage has been widely praised by critics and stands out with an impeccable cast made up of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.

Additionally, Ridley Scott feels that the promotion has been handled very well by Disney. Yes but here it was, it was without counting on the apathy of millennials hypnotized by their smartphones!

The young peril

“I think it can be boiled down to the fact that today, we have audiences who are not able to lift their heads from their fucking smartphones. Millennials who do not want to hear anything unless it comes out of their phone, “railed Ridley Scott at the microphone of the podcast WTF.

But the director is nevertheless a good loser. “You can’t win all the time. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve never had the slightest regret on any of the films I’ve made, ”he continued.

Never mind, Ridley Scott can already move on since House of Gucci, his latest film, is already in theaters.
