After “The Batman”, Colin Farrell will take over the role of the Penguin in a spinoff series

Colin Farrell has yet to reveal his version of the Penguin in The Batman, but he has already landed a spin-off for his character! The actor will resume the role of the enemy of the batman in a new series, for HBO Max. The program will focus, according to Variety, on the rise of the super-villain, to become one of Gotham City’s most powerful slums criminals.

Colin Farrell will also be producing this new series, announced last September. At the time, the name of the actor was not yet in the casting.

Unavoidable

Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, is one of the essential characters in the Batman universe. Over the years he has appeared as Danny de Vito, in Batman, the Return, as well as Robin Lord Taylor in the series Gotham. This is the first time that the character will be the star of a live action program.

So far, neither HBO Max nor Warner has confirmed the news, but Variety specifies that the project will be written by Lauren LeFranc (Impulse, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and co-produced by Matt Reeves, director of The Batman.

The return of the detective on the cinema screens, where we will see for the first time Colin Farrel in the guise of the Penguin, is scheduled for March 4, 2022.
