In an important step in the awards season, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will publish this December 21 today its short list of films shortlisted to participate in the Oscar Awards 2022.

Among the most important categories is that of Best International Film, in which the Peruvian representative “Manco Cápac” by director Henry Vallejo participates.

The national film is one of 93 nominees this year for the prestigious award, although only 15 of these will end up on the short list and have a chance to be nominated for the Academy Awards on February 8.

The other categories to be announced this December 21 are Best Animated Film, Best Animated Short, Best Documentary Feature Film, Best Documentary Short, Best Original Song, Best Soundtrack, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.

In the case of the majority of categories, the short list is voted by the members of the AMPAS branch to which it corresponds, although there are exceptions such as Best International Film in which all members of the Academy can vote if it is that meet the movie watched requirements.
