The 11-year-old lived in a mobile home with his parents and the electricity was cut the night of his death because of the snowstorms that recently hit the US state. The miner had fallen asleep under a pile of blankets to keep warm, but was found dead early in the morning by his mother. Hypothermia would be the preferred avenue for the authorities.
47 people died from the cold
The little boy from Honduras moved to Texas in 2019 to join his mother. Shortly before the tragedy, the young boy would have played for a long time in the snow before returning home and his mother taking care of him because his clothes were wet.
The Washington Post reports that at least 47 people – including 30 only in this state – would have died because of the temperatures. Local authorities fear that these cold episodes will continue for the next few weeks.
