CNN notes that the vaccines cannot be given until advisers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have voted on whether to recommend them and CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has approved the recommendation.

In a call with the press, a White House official indicated that if the FDA authorizes and the CDC recommends these doses for this age group, it would be a “historic milestone” in the US fight against the virus.

The source said that the White House will work with a wide range of pediatricians, that the vaccines will be available in 100-dose packages and will come with all the supplies that health care providers need to care for children, such as small needles.
