New black Monday in the emergency room of the CHU, only vital cases will be welcomed

The Toulouse University Hospital emergency department is preparing to experience a new day of tension starting Monday at 7 a.m., until 7 a.m. the next day. Concretely, “the adult emergencies of the Purpan hospital, and the emergencies of the Rangueil hospital will only receive vital emergencies addressed by the Samu (the 15th)”, indicates the management. Patients whose state of health does not justify a call to the Samu are invited to call private clinics or their attending physician, or, after 8 p.m., to dial 39 66.

This situation is the consequence of a massive strike by hospital workers. The movement started two Mondays ago in the Purpan emergency room. It now extends to those of Rangueil but also to psychiatric emergencies which only maintain scheduled consultations. “The time is serious (…) If hospital staff are mobilizing today, it is to defend access to health for all in good conditions”, underlines the CGT union of the CHU in a press release. A new negotiation meeting must take place on Tuesday June 21, during which management must make proposals for team reinforcements.

The anger also wins over the staff of the Paule-de-Viguier maternity hospital of the CHU, called to strike on Friday June 24.
