Social security quickly understood that these prescriptions did not really correspond to the medical profile of the alleged 28-year-old patient. This young woman was heard Monday at the Toulouse police station for having been delivered at the end of 2021, in the same pharmacy and thanks to two prescriptions, for 8,860 € of anti-cancer drugs. The doctor “prescribing” this treatment, reimbursed by Social Security, had meanwhile filed a complaint for “identity theft”.
The suspect admitted the scam, in front of the investigators. She explained that she responded to a request on social networks to make ends meet, using her own Vitale card.
Probably for export
From a police source, she could not describe the mysterious sponsor who provided her with the prescriptions, then recovered the goods, ensuring that her participation had brought her €500 in all.
According to the police, this type of cancer drug can be sold at exorbitant prices abroad, in countries without social security, where access to these treatments is complicated.
The false patient is summoned, soon, before the criminal court for “fraud to the detriment of a social organization”. The Primary Health Insurance Fund of Haute-Garonne, the doctor and the pharmacy, have all three filed a complaint.
