Opened immediately, closed immediately. The Disneyland amusement park in Shanghai, China, was abruptly closed on Tuesday, according to its website, “to comply with the requirements for the prevention and control of the pandemic” Covid-19.
This time it’s just the park, hotels and surrounding business districts continue to “operate as usual,” Disneyland Shanghai points out, ensuring that visitors are notified “as soon as possible” of a reopening date.
Previously, the park was closed to the public from October 31 to November 25 with a turnkey facility for visitors present at the time of closure until a negative test is taken. Shanghai Disneyland was no longer able to open those doors between March 21 and June 29 this year and for four months in 2020 as part of China’s Covid-19 policy.
The decision comes after a wave of protests has swept across China since Friday as people grew weary of the government’s drastic containment and zero-spread policies for Covid-19 in many cities.
