The health authorities announce this Wednesday that a seasonal flu epidemic has been declared in metropolitan France. As a new wave of Covid-19 looms, the bronchiolitis epidemic is hitting toddlers hard, now caregivers will have to deal with the seasonal flu, leading health authorities to fear the start of a triple epidemic.
“An epidemic has begun in Brittany and Normandy,” the French public health agency said in a report for the week of November 27. Abroad, the influenza epidemic has already hit Martinique, Mayotte and Reunion.
The virus, named A(H3N2) this year, is in a “pre-epidemic” phase in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, the Grand Orient and the Provence-Alpes-CĂ´te d’Azur, as well as in the Center-Val-de-Loire, Hauts-de -France and Ile-de-France.
