Seasonal Influenza: Faced with the circulation of the virus, the vaccination campaign has been extended until February 28th.

Despite a slight decline, the influenza epidemic continues to affect all of France. Faced with this observation, the health authorities have decided to extend the vaccination campaign against the virus until February 28, 2023, according to a joint press release from the French Ministry of Health, Health Insurance and Public Health.

Despite a marked decline in influenza rates since the beginning of the year, “the circulation of influenza viruses is still active. An upward recovery in numbers remains possible in the coming weeks,” the three authorities warn.

More than 9 million people have been vaccinated.

Since the start of the influenza vaccination campaign, more than 9 million eligible people have already been vaccinated, more than last year. Vaccination is especially recommended for people at risk who may develop a severe form.

Vaccination will save an average of 2,000 lives a year among people over 65, according to three authorities. Along with vaccination, the systematic assimilation of barrier gestures by all remains an effective means of protecting against respiratory infections and their complications.

Reminder campaign against Covid is still open

The end of 2022 was marked by a combination of three epidemics: Covid, influenza and bronchiolitis in infants, leading to hospitalizations unprecedented in a decade. In addition to seasonal flu vaccinations, the Covid reminder campaign remains open to everyone.

“It is quite possible to simultaneously introduce vaccines against Covid-19 and seasonal influenza. If two vaccines cannot be administered at the same time, there should not be a specific time limit between two injections, ”remind the three authorities.
