12 to 17 year olds can be vaccinated during school time

-

Middle and high school students in Finistère can now be vaccinated against Covid-19 during their school time. Each of the 143 secondary schools will receive slots in one of the 14 vaccination centers in the department, the prefect announced on Monday. This device was set up in an attempt to speed up vaccination coverage in adolescents aged 12 to 17, reports France Bleu Breizh Izel.

More than 82% of adolescents vaccinated for the first time

Before organizing a group trip, the school is obliged to inform families, to fill out health questionnaires and parental authorizations. “The specifications provide that each group stays a maximum of one hour,” said Jean-Paul Mongeat, the deputy director of ARS Bretagne in Finistère. After the injection, middle and high school students receive a snack before returning to their establishments.

This operation is to last until the end of September. Nearly 9,700 young people aged 12 to 17 still need to be vaccinated in the department. According to data from Géodes, 82.3% of adolescents aged 12 to 17 had received at least one dose by September 2 in Finistère. A number significantly higher than the national average, which is 64%.
