The rocket will be used for manned lunar missions and deep space exploration missions, as revealed at the Airshow China 2021, which opened on September 28, reports the People’s Daily.

. With a perimeter of almost 10 meters, it has four thrusters. Each of the thrusters is equipped with two liquid oxygen / kerosene engines. The first stage has four liquid oxygen / kerosene engines; the second stage has two liquid hydrogen engines and the third stage has four liquid hydrogen engines.

With different numbers of propellants, the new series of rockets will be able to send spacecraft weighing between 50 and 140 metric tons into low Earth orbit (the maximum of Saturn V or the SLS), and those weighing between 15 and 50 metric tons to the Earth-Moon transfer orbit. In addition, it can also carry spacecraft from 12 to 44 metric tons into the Earth-Mars transfer orbit.

The heavy-lift rocket project has undergone more than 10 years of development since it was evaluated, said Liu Bing, deputy chief designer of the design department of the Chinese Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the rocket’s developer. .
